Travis,
I used to hunt with a guy from Oklahoma that had a nice female out of that blood. Her and my old Jammer dog got on a mean bear one fall and she got hurt bad. We took her to the vet that night and they had to amputate her hind leg. I was there the very next spring for her first bear hunt as a three legged dog. After about an hour race, the bear bayed up. When I snuck in and shot the bear on the ground, the three legged female, who we knick named tri-pod, was standing side by side with a couple of my dogs as well as a few others about ten feet from the bear. I was impressed.

The Rose Brothers from Franklin West Virginia have a line of dogs that have more gunnar than gunnar. If you get the 3 generation pedigree of these dogs all you see is Gunnar and females in the 3rd generation. They are really nice fellas, I spoke with them on the phone. They said they have two lines of dogs at their place, one to do the trailing and one to get the bears to climb.

This should help:

reason I ask is all the gunner dogs I've been around have been awesome bear dogs, and I have a buddy who is color blind to the point he is ability blind also. So,I thought maybe I could at least get him a good "shade" of the wrong color.LOL Steve Fielder gave me a name of a guide in New Mexico who had some quite a few years ago but I can't remember what I did with the number.
