where do grade dogs fit in?

If I bred my registered female to a grade male are they considered cross bred or is there another way of registering them

They would be Cross Breeds .. But after 3 generations from the Org. cross they would be a min. of 87%

X Bred

Smoking Bluedog to answer your question as you have asked and proposed. As of January 1st You could not litter register them as X bred. Though you could single register them as X Bred.
X Bred is a category and it is best and maybe more understandable if you think of it as such. In the past the breed associations had single registration. The breed assoc. single registration has been closed, But has been replaced with single registration through the X bred program they would need to show coonhound charistics which will be determined by UKC. In the past if they looked like a bluetick then they would have been single registered as a bluetick, Now they will be single registered in the X bred category and not as a breed.

To litter register pups X bred both sire and dam need to be registered either as a breed or X bred. So if you want to register this litter of pups that you asked about. The first thing you would need to do after Jan. 1st is single register the grade male with UKC in the X bred program. If UKC accepted that he had coon hound charistics and single registered in the X bred program as ancestors unknown. Then you could litter register this cross as X Bred.

Hope this helps and doesn't confuse you more.

That was probably the clearest information I've read out of most of the posts. Thanks..

I think I understand if the sire is not mine and owner hasn't single registered him in the x-bred program can I single register the pups in the x-bred program with my females pedigree showing on the bottom side? Or just the pups that i keep for myself

Well since the male isn't registered the only option on those pups would be single registering them as X Bred.
Now at what age you can single register them I am not sure. As UKC requirements to single register a dog in the X Bred program they have to have Coonhound Charistics. You can register litters up to a year old so I would guess that UKC probably has a age limit or the dog would need to have some age and growth to them before they could single register them as they would need to have coon hound charistics. Those are questions UKC would need to answer. When you do single register them yes my understanding is you could put your females pedigree in the bottom side the top side would just be unknown.
