puppies

My good UKC bluetick female has 3 week old puppies accidentaly out of my NLCA blue leopard male. Should make good hog dogs. My question is if I keep a pup and it will run and tree, can I single register it as an American leopard hound? I have 3 gen pedigrees on both dogs. All pups are merle leopards except for a pair of solid blacks.

I think that you are talking about a Catahoula (if it is NALC registered) not a Leopard Cur/Hound.

I mean no disrespect to american leopard hounds. I have been coon hunting with ukc blueticks close to 40 years. But i have also been hog hunting and raising national louisiana catahoula association dogs for 15 years. when I was competition hunting my blues i never knew a leopard coonhound existed and i did have friends with what they called catahoula hounds. I thought they were the same thing. Am I wrong? Where did the first american leopard hounds come from if it wasn't xbreeding coonhounds and catahoulas?I'm trying to start an argument or force or prove anything, just trying to get information.

I too raised and trained catahoulas for the last 20 years on hogs and all sorts of varmits . but the Catahoula cur and the American leopard cur are two different strains of dog . I am sure there was some cross breeding of the two some where by people but they are different as night and day in every thing but color . I cross my catahoulas on hounds all the time for hogs and have gotten many that were good tree dogs , but still they are just cross bred cat x hound that look like leopard hounds [ that doesn't make them one ] if they ever open up single registration on looks alone I have a bunch that would make it lol .
