Had a great hunt last night in NW Alabama with Merle and Dawn. They combined for a total of six coons. Merle is out of Johnny Reb and Pretty Girl. Dawn is out of Pride and Clark's Ann. Here's a pic of Merle that my hunting buddy, Carl Layne, took last night. We didn't get one of Dawn. Got home about 3:30, had a great time. Looks like we're rained out tonight.

Plan to go tonight. I'll be hunting Mr. John who is out of Merle and Dixie and Duce out of Johnny Reb and Pretty Girl. Glad you guys had a good time and sure like hearing about other folks hunts.

I have a female out of Reb and Pretty Girl. Glad to hear of another dog from this same cross doing well. Those two sure threw some good pups that became good coon dogs!

Thanks for the kind comments on Merle. I bought Merle last November from Mitchell Garver who was going to college. He had acquired Merle from John Williams a few months before. John done a great job training this dog. He is an absolute pleasure to hunt–has a great handle on him. All I can take credit for is enjoying the old dog. Merle will be 9 in January.
