Unhappy United English a Breeders &Fanciers Association

I am very disappointed in the United English Breeders & Fanciers this weekend at the Grand American. First I would like to congratulate all the English cast winners this weekend. The UEB&F did not have a booth set up to take memberships this year at the first hunt of 2016. Like a lot of people I always pay up my memberships at the Grand American. There were several very disappointed cast winners Saturday night when only two cast winners were eligible for the breed Trophy because they happened to find a paper on a table indicating to go to the Bench show to find some one to pay memberships to. I can understand a person showing dogs and doing other events but when you don't have a booth set up and the trophys are setting in the corner of the building how are you expecting old and new members to join and make the UEB&F grow. Others hunters along with myself asked all the other breed associations where to find the UEB&F booth nobody knew where they were.
Some one dropped the ball bad on this one and several cast winners suffered from it. Once again congratulations to all the winners and two both the highest scoring Male and Female.

I agree, I'm a member of the Black & Tan association and asked John Braxton at the black & tan booth where the English booth was. My girl friend has an English dog and wanted to join the English Association. She's a member of the Southern English association and won Queen of show at the Greenville SC Southern English hunt.

My thoughts as well,
I am the person that is charged with handing out to the breed Rep's at 3:00 in the morning there pages of winners after the UKC people do there job at that same time of the morning. Here is where I put in the disclaimer that neither UKC nor The Grand American Associations are responsible for the breed associations and the winners of those groups. After handing out those forms to the other breeds rep's I was left standing with twenty or so English fanciers that did not have any leadership there to help determine the winners of our chosen breed. Yes I am as all that know me will attest an English fancier. So as we all struggled to figure this mess out I saw our association members that had won over the two nights and had some claim to the title of high scoring English hound title articulate each case. The missing link in most all cases the fact that they did not have a current EB&F card. After all the discussion even the man that had a double cast win but had no chance to renew his membership was in agreement with the group decision. Now were the decisions made the correct ones made I do not know but I do know that the group of English fanciers standing there were of one accord and that was a awesome site. So to all that were standing there I say thank you for all being the adults you are. And to our association elected officers I am very much disappointed in our elected officers not making any attempt to keep this from happening.

Laird Thompson
Grand American Board Chairman but more importantly English Fancier

Is the information in the sticky on this English site correct as far as sending membership money to Joe D'Arco. Thanks.

Membership Table at Grand American

I'm Judy Deighton, vice president of the UEBF&A, and I would like to clear up a few issues that have been raised regarding the lack of a membership table at Grand American.

Arrangements were made for several members of the association to help with the coverage of a membership table at Grand American. Unfortunately very few of them were able to keep their commitment for various reasons. A huge thank you to Joe D'Arco for manning the fort as much as he could. Table space was at a premium so by the time Joe got there he didn't have space to set up but he did the best he could.

There are several things association members need to understand. Officers and directors are every day people like anyone else. We all have obligations and we can't all attend every large event throughout the year. All of us have work, family, and even school commitments that keep us from enjoying all of these events every year. As officers, directors, membership chair, and yearbook editor we all spend many hours trying to keep things on the right track. Sometimes we don't succeed but we give it our best shot.

I'm sorry we didn't meet your expectations. Maybe next year some of you could offer your assistance so we could have the table manned the entire weekend.

If you have more complaints about this issue send me a message and I will try to answer each one individually. Thanks.

No probably not. You will want to find Robin Stover when you get there. I will tell her you will be needing a membership.

INFORMATION...

Thanks Judy for supplying the information above. Let me address this to everyone, I had called Judy about the membership table, after I was informed there was no one there on Thursday. She had made arrangements to have it covered on Fri.& Sat. by several different people. Unknowingly, these people didn't show to help. I understand things happen beyond our control, as not everyone will let you know when they can't do something! I have been contacted by several different people to help out when needed. Thanks fellas! This is what any Association needs…more helpers! As one of them said, be part of the solutions, not part of the problem! I am going to propose co-membership chairman at our Spring Board meeting. We need someone to cover events like the Grand American, on the Eastern side of the U.S. This is a very demanding position, and like all the Office holders and Board of Directors, they all give of their time to do what they can to promote the English Breed, at NO PAY. Remember they have jobs, family, and other commitments too like everyone else. Let's all get behind your Association and do what you can.
I WILL BE AT THE WINTER CLASSIC TO HELP AT THE MEMBERSHIP TABLE TOO, OR JUST LOOK ME UP DOWN THERE. YOUR THOUGHTS OR OPINIONS ARE WELCOME!

Thank You

A BIG thank you to those ladies who was set up for our association at the Winter Classic !! ( sorry im bad with names) Very professional , helpful and extremely nice . Im sure there are not many who like to donate their time and effort sitting under a tent all day ( im sure it gets boring after several hours) but these folks are the ones keeping our association going . A big thank you to Del also and his dedication to our breed. If you see these folks at a hunt the least you can do is tell them thanks and let them know you appreciate them! Lets keep our breed and association strong.

To Toad Hill, thank you for the kind remarks. I will make sure they get to Robin and Christina.

To Englishpride: To my knowledge we usually only have tables at Grand American, Winter Classsic, English Days, and Autumn Oaks. We usually have someone around at Southern English Days for memberships too. We don't routinely set up at other breed days.

If you need a membership before that email me at judydeighton@howardhanna.com and I will see what we can do to get you set up.
