Sharon Meeks Memorial Hunt

February 1st and 2nd 2019

South Carolina Sectional Abbeville County Coon Club SC is Proud to Hold “Sharon Meeks Memorial Hunt”

This Leopard sectional is named after a dear friend of the Leopard breeders and hunters. She was associated with the Leopard Hound for 35 years doing many things, including cooking for the local clubs, taking membership fees at the Grand American and Winter Classic, to just about anything else the Leopard Association needed. Not to mention, helping her husband Lamar out while doing these things. She kept her own Leopards and promoted them as well. Lamar wishes that anyone that has purchased a pup throughout the years from either him or Sharon to come to this event.

Friday will be a Leopard only event with treeing contest, bench show, and competition hunt. Leopard curs and hounds are welcome.

Saturday will be a licensed UKC event, open to all breeds, including a treeing contest, bench show and competition hunt. We would like to thank Big River Hunting & Hound Hunting Supplies for sponsoring this event. They will also be setting up on Saturday so be sure to pay them a visit.

King and Queen of the Show will be crowned to the best male and female of show on Saturday. King and Queen of the Hunt will be crowned after Saturday’s hunt. Scores from Friday and Saturday will be combined to determine the King and Queen of the Hunt. Only Leopards will be eligible for King and Queen of the Show and Hunt.

Both Friday and Saturday bench show deadline is 4:30 PM. Treeing Contest will begin at approximately 5:00 PM (immediately following the bench show). Night hunt deadline is 6:30 PM. Bench show entry will be $10 and night hunt entry will be $20. For those not interested in competition hunting there will be guides available for pleasure hunt too.

If you have pups for sale or you need a pup this is the place to be. If you have Leopards, even if you do not hunt or show them, come let folks see your dogs and meet the good folks who own Leopards.

The hunt will take place at RUI Beagle Club in Abbeville SC. For GPS is 1112 Old Landfill RD. Iva SC 29655. Some GPS systems do not pick this physical address up, so If there are any questions contact Randy Adcox 864-230-0130 or Michael Hayes 864-449-8426 or Corey Gareri 765-366-9046. The club contact is Jimmy Bowen 864-378-3995.

If you are looking for a place to stay, the nearest hotels can be found in Greenwood or Abbeville. Camp sites are available on the club grounds.

Well we had a great hunt this year a lot of Leopard Hound people and dogs were here. We had a great turn out for the Leopard only hunt Friday night with two 4 dog cast. each cast seen a lot of coons and we had a gallery of hounds men going along just to see what these dogs could do and from what they told me they were impressed. UKC open hunt on Saturday was impressive as well it looked good to see a whole hill of these Leopard Hounds tied out we had a great showing at the UKC open hunt. The Leopard Hounds took all the places on the bench. In the UKC open night Hunt we had a Leopard have a cast win. there will be more detailed description on the event. I just wanted to give you a quick run down on what happen this weekend. there will be photos available soon......Like to thank Abbeville Coon Club for hosting this event. It gets bigger every year. the children's bench show was a big hit Saturday....and that is what it is all about.
