running beagles all year

I hunt year round and hunt squirrels in season. I wonder, can't beagles be run year round so long as you don't kill the rabbit. My curs will run a rabbit while I'm coon hunting and who knows or cares.

Here in North Carolina we can run dogs, coon and rabbit dogs all year just don't get caught carrying a gun unless gun season.

the two rabbit hunters I met said that they don't run year round because of their fear that dogs would be snake bitten. I've had a few dogs snake bite in 20 years but not too many. Is it a big problem because beagles are such small dogs?

A couple benadryl takes care of most. Rattlers pose a problem though and I know a lot of eastern counties have them. I've run into several deer hunting at Pungo.

I guess it's a decision every one must make. I haven't seen a rattler here in several years though I have seen and killed many moccasins and several copper heads.
