Best Training Tips for Young Coonhounds

Hi everyone,
I’m starting this thread to share and learn about effective training methods for young coonhounds. What age do you usually begin formal training, and what techniques have worked best for you? I’d love to hear about your experiences, especially with building strong tracking skills and good manners early on.

Young dog training

I like to start training my pups to load up and ride about 4 months old and then I also like to let them run loose as much as possible to let them learn all the new scents to them. And I also like to just take them to the woods as much as I can during the day and when I go hunt and just let them be around the action some.

I started ridding mine in the side by side and in the dog box at 3 months old. I even took him to the woods some a soon as he was big enough to fit a tracking collar to get him use to being out at night and just being in the woods. The only thing I would let him play with much as young pup was a coon hide with some coon scent on it.
