Jeff, I believe Annie has the tools to become one of the biggest winners in the bluetick breed.

Definetly some fine lookn hounds and seems to be quite a few of them doing some winning. U fellas have said they have track speed, lots of go, and pretty accurate but what bout holding pressure at the tree and independence those r two important things.

For sure , there is a thread on the REdbone board that articulates that aspect real well .. when the Walkers are making noise and messing up .. what are the other breeds doing ? If the off breeds could take advantage of that and hold pressure it would be a level playing field.

Posted by TXnightrider on 10-01-2012 04:25 PM:

Echo dogs

From what I have seen everyone that breeds echo dogs breeds COON DOG TO COON DOG.. Something a lot of people have quit doing...

Posted by ratpack on 10-01-2012 04:28 PM:

the echo bred dogs have no problem splitting and holding pressure an certainly has no lacking in independance it comes naturally to them.

I'm certianly not fool enough to say that all Echo bred dogs were/are "pull pressure" superior tree dogs, but common sense tells me that a many of them sure didn't make a habit of leaving trees.

Look at like this: Troy had Old Echo, Echo II, Bodacious, Echo III, Pete, Deacon, & Echo Joe just to name a few. Not sure about original Echo, but the rest have all placed high, or won to some extent at major hunts, both regional & national. I believe Troy had stabled at once, the likes of Echo III, Bodacious, Pete, & Deacon. Not to shabby a line up of hounds no matter the breed.

Also, Daniel Smith without a doubt really helped put these hounds in the national spotlight if you will, with Pop A Top, Butch, & Lucy. Giving credit where credit is due, Daniel proved you could take these southern Oklahoma coondogs & compete at the very highest level in northern country, or any country for that matter. Go to RazorRidgeKennel website & check out the list of winnings Daniel accumulated with their hounds in the hunts, not to mention on the bench. My fingers would cramp before I got half of their accomplishments posted!

Voyd Cannon & others have hunted this line too. The Bocephus hound of Jody's can be treed as soon as he starts his locate, I've witnessed such! I can assure you the men listed above won't be dragging around a big eared, me too hound at a hunt!

Good huntin,

Chris, You have Maverick looking good. His daughter, Dual Ch Nolan Creek Blue Diamond now has two wins toward Grand Nite. She don't have the "get deep quick" of her Dad, but she sure will get it done quick, but usually a lot closer.
I really do miss Maverick, but I do enjoy Diamond. At my age, almost 62 and two bad knees, he was too much for me to keep up with. I am so happy he has a good home.
Take good care of him.

Me,Troy and Adam took 3 puppies and an old fat brood gyp which is a full sister to Zeb to the woods last night. Struck and treed the first one in fine fashion after a nice 500 yard race. Second drop not so nice but still got to love being out there. The old fat brood gyp still has her big motor lol. Woodrow is looking good Devin. And Devins right Woodrow goes his hunting wont be back and when he gets treed he aint leaving and u got to go get him. And he goes back to old Echo several times and in more ways than just on paper.
